If you care for someone, letting your GP know you’re a carer can make a real difference. If you register as a carer with your GP, it will enable them to support you in your caring role.
How to register as a carer with your GP
- You can speak to the receptionist or practice manager to request a registration form to go on their carers’ register.
- Carers UK has produced a template letter that you can complete and send it to your GP.
- Your GP may have a separate register for young carers. If a child or teenager under the age of 18 is helping to care for someone, ask if this is available.
