Winter Fuel Payment reinstated for pensioners

SHARE:

Winter Fuel Payments will be reinstated to all pensioners in England and Wales this winter – but will be clawed back automatically from those earning over £35,000 a year, the Government has confirmed. It means nine million pensioners will get the £200 or £300 top-up.

The Winter Fuel Payment is £200, with an extra £100 for households where there is someone aged 80 or over (up to £300 in total). In a couple:

  1. If both people are 80+, the total will be split evenly, with each person getting £150 (£300 total).
  2. If one is 80+ and the other under 80, the older person will get £200 and the under-80 will get £100 (£300 total).
  3. If both people are under 80, each will get £100 (£200 total).

IMPORTANT. These payments will be automatically paid to you. YOU DO NOT NEED TO APPLY
