We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who made this year’s Carers Week truly one to remember – it was a fantastic week, full of highlights which you can check out below.
Carers Week is an annual campaign brought to life by thousands of individuals and organisations like ourselves, who come together to provide support for carers, run activities, highlight the vital role carers play in our communities and draw attention to just how important caring is.
This year’s theme was ‘recognising and supporting carers in the community’. Identifying unpaid carers is vitally important as it means they can receive a range of practical and financial support that can help them in their caring role.
Below you can find out more about what happened throughout the week, hear some of our carers stories and read what Carers Trust Heart of England CEO, Claire Dale had to say about what was a monumental week.
Carer Awards
Carers Week saw the return of Carers Trust Heart of England’s Carer Awards event at the stunning St Mary’s Guildhall in Coventry. The event saw members of the local community come together to enjoy an evening of celebrating carers and those who have gone above and beyond to support in their caring roles.
Businesses, schools, GP’s, health teams, voluntary organisations and carers of all ages from across Coventry and Warwickshire were all presented with prestigious Carer Awards to recognise their extraordinary work in supporting carers.
There were also awards for adult, young adult and young carers, all of whom had been nominated several times, though it must be said that all carers are deserving of recognition for their extraordinary selflessness.
Trustees, local businesses, councillors, journalists and staff from both Carers Trust Heart of England and Caring Together Warwickshire joined winners for what was the first Carer Awards since 2019, enjoying afternoon tea and dazzling performances by Jazzstrata and Beth Wynn-Davies.
The evening was also an opportunity for us to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges and pressures unpaid carers face, and recognise the vital contribution that carers make to families and communities across the UK.

Other Events
Laughter Therapy, Pet Therapy Workshop, Take Control Workshop and Wellbeing Walks were just a few of the sessions we hosted throughout Carers Week. Many carers also got creative as a part of our #MyRock Campaign, painting rocks and adding a splash of colour to gardens and landmarks throughout Coventry and Warwickshire by placing them all over the region.
We appreciate how difficult it can be for carers to find the time to attend sessions, engage with us on our socials and get involved with campaigns so it was fantastic to see so many of you actively engaging with us throughout the week – thank you!
Carers Stories
The Carer Awards also saw us premiere a video in which several of our remarkable registered carers told us their stories, in their own words and language.
We had been very excited about sharing the video and were delighted with the reception it received, particularly from those who featured in the video, many of whom joined us at the Carer Awards. Caring Together Warwickshire are proud to support carers of all faiths and cultures and would like to thank everyone involved in the video which you can check out below.
