Adult Carers

The service provides a single point of access for people who are looking after someone else. The universal all-age carer wellbeing service provides a range of free support, information, advice and guidance tailored to carers' unique needs.  Carers have told us they feel better supported by using a holistic approach, enabling them to continue their caring role for as long as they choose.  By registering (free), you will have access to a wide range of resources and information, be kept up to date with the latest changes in social care, and have access to groups and activities we run as part of a large network of Carers in Warwickshire.  We offer a blend of services, face-to-face and digital to ensure you get the support of your choice.

Carer Assessment for adults

If you are looking after someone, you have a right to a Carers Assessment if you are over 18 years old and look after another adult who is elderly, ill or disabled, you don’t have to live with them. You are entitled to a Carers Assessment regardless of how much time or type of care you provide or your finances. Our experienced staff will give you the opportunity to explore your physical and emotional needs as an unpaid carer and what services or support you may need to help you. They are free of charge and designed to support you. They can be completed at your home, over the phone or at a place of your choice. Carer Assessments are an opportunity to share your journey in your own words and access the support you need.

Young Carers

Young carers are children and young people under the age of 25, who help look after someone in their family who has a disability, a long-term illness, or is affected by mental ill health or substance misuse. Some of the help they provide may be:

  • Helping with shopping and chores around the house
  • Helping get washed and dressed
  • Helping to look after brothers and sisters
  • Helping with medication and organising appointments
  • Talking and listening when they feel sad
  • Paying bills and managing money
How we can help
  • Carrying out an assessment to understand what life is like for you and how we can support you in it
  • Helping you manage your feelings and worries
  • Offering you a place to come to have some 'you' time
  • Helping you meet friends who understand your situation
  • Providing fun activities and the chance to try new things
  • Teaching new skills to help you live your best life
Carer Assessments for Young Carers

As a young carer, you have legal rights to ask for a young carers assessment, which looks at the impact the care and support that you provide has on your wellbeing. The assessment will also look at other aspects of your life, like education, training, and your leisure time, such as whether you get a chance to play sports or see friends, and discuss what support would help you.
